At HFL Education we believe that SEND is everyone’s responsibility, and our work is designed to ensure that the principles underpinning the SEND code of practice are embedded, and that positive outcomes for learners with SEND are achieved.

What SEND support does HFL Education offer for mainstream schools and settings?

Our highly skilled SEND advisers bring a wealth of practical experience and knowledge having worked as SENCOs and senior leaders. Working in partnership with school leaders and SENCOS, we will support you to develop highly effective and inclusive SEN provision across Early Years, primary and secondary phases.

Services include supporting:

  • School leaders and SENCOs to strategically self-evaluate SEND policy and provision.
  • SENCOs to effectively fulfil their day-to-day responsibilities and statutory duties.
  • Teachers, subject leaders and teaching assistants to adapt the curriculum for learners with SEND and deliver high-quality teaching and learning

We offer:

  • Bespoke consultancy activities relating to all aspects of SEND policy and provision
  • Statutory SEND information website checks
  • Training for all education staff and governors on any aspect of SEND

In addition, our education advisers in Early Years, primary and secondary teams can provide specific support related to curriculum and pedagogy, and our colleagues in education technology and data management services can also provide SEND focused support.

What are the benefits of working with HFL’s SEND advisory team?

Evidence shows that working with our highly skilled SEND advisers has a positive impact on the quality of SEN provision in the school, whilst also ensuring SENCOs feel more confident and knowledgeable in all aspects of SEND policy and provision.

By working with us you will:

  • Increase staff knowledge, confidence and skills in working with learners with SEND

  • Ensure the SENCO can confidently fulfil the day to day and strategic responsibilities of the role

  •  Improve the quality of teaching through more inclusive classrooms and engaged learners

  • Develop effective school systems and robust leadership ensuring early identification of need and well-matched provision

  • Improve outcomes for learners with SEND

It has been a really useful process for us, and this feedback will definitely help us to move forward and meet the rising SEN challenges that we (and all schools) are facing.

I have had years of practice in writing plans but not around disability and I have found this quite challenging. Your feedback has been critical in getting it to a better, more child centred position so thanks again.

Training

In-depth, specialist SEND training is provided by advisers.  This includes a core programme for SENCOs, school leaders and governors covering essential aspects of SEND policy and provision identified in the SEND code of practice.

In 2022, 100% of respondents said the knowledge they gained from our Induction for New SENCOs course was having a positive impact on learners with SEND.

Working collaboratively with other HFL Education teams and Eastern Partnership UK (SEND), we offer an extensive training programme to school staff at all stages in their career and across all phases, enabling them to secure expertise in adaptive teaching and supporting children and young people with SEND
