Why work with HFL Education on RSHE and PSHE provision?

We can offer bespoke support to help you implement an effective RSHE and PSHE curriculum. This can include a comprehensive audit of your current provision, working collaboratively with leaders to identify areas for improvement that best serve your pupils and community. Our focus is on embedding a curriculum that not only aligns with statutory guidance but also addresses the unique needs of your school community.

Our expert Wellbeing team have a proven track record in supporting schools with policy review and development, as well as effective assessment and monitoring of your RSHE provision.

We also provide comprehensive guidance to schools and trusts on all aspects of statutory RSHE and PSHE. This includes tailored training opportunities for subject leads, core teaching teams, and the wider school community. Our recent initiatives have covered topics such as confident leadership, the effective teaching of puberty in sex education, creating an LGBTQ+ inclusive curriculum and complaint and withdrawal request management. We also provide support for equalities, anti-racism and anti-bullying strategies.

How does HFL tailor its support to schools delivering RSHE and PSHE?

Because we recognise that all school settings are different and some pupils have very individual needs around this area of the statutory curriculum, we don’t believe in providing off-the-shelf support.

Instead, we are able to tailor the work we do to provide wellbeing support that enables you to provide high quality PSHE provision that resonates with all stakeholders and meets statutory RSHE requirements. Support can focus on:

  • Policy review and development

  • Parent/carer consultation

  • Equalities and inclusion

  • Assessment and monitoring

  • The subject leader role

  • RSHE within the Personal Development judgement

  • The governor's role

  • Guidance on quality resources to meet your needs

  • Delivering effective sex education

  • Teaching about the body, consent, and puberty/adolescence

  • Maximising pupil voice

  • Teaching the law

  • Teaching safeguarding and anti-abuse on and offline

  • Support with parent/carer withdrawal requests and/or complaints

If you believe your school or setting might benefit from an enhanced enquiry into your PSHE/RSHE provision, we can offer a full day visit and follow up report that highlights existing strengths and potential areas for development, together with recommendations on next steps.

It provides age-appropriate guidance and support for school leaders and staff around preventing harassment, violence and abuse in young people’s relationships and includes resources and materials to support the design of an impactful RSHE curriculum, with signposts to organisations, agencies and training providers.

The toolkit is available on the Hertfordshire Grid website
