This professional, accredited learning programme is designed for early years practitioners in the PVI sector (including childminders) who are already the SENCO or aspiring to be one.
By completing this qualification, learners will strengthen their understanding of:
- the statutory principles underpinning inclusive early years practice
- the importance of early and accurate understanding of children’s needs to determine appropriate support
- how to develop a culture of purposeful co-production with children and their families
- the role of other professionals and effective multi-agency working
The course combines evidence-based online learning alongside facilitated study sessions designed to deepen understanding through discussion and reflection.
Assessment tasks focus on applying the skills needed to enable early years SENCOs to place inclusion at the heart of everyday practice.

Suitable for staff in PVI settings, including childminders, and early years practitioners in school-based pre-schools or nurseries
After taking this course I now feel more confident when supporting colleagues and parents, improving our practice and training our new staff in supporting children with SEND.
