Festival of Education
We are delighted to share that, Shammi Rahman, Equalities and Diversity Adviser is chairing a panel discussion at the Festival of Education on Thursday 2nd July.
The discussion is titled ‘Fostering Connection and Cultivating Belonging’ and is part of the 16th instalment of one of the UK’s most exciting and inspiring education events. Founded by Wellington College in 2010, the Festival of Education gathers educators from across the UK and beyond for two days of invaluable professional development, discussions, and networking.

HFL in SecEd
Paul Jenkins, Head of Secondary Curriculum Services has a brilliant article on attendance in SecEd so if you're a subscriber take a look.
Paul shares six ideas on how tutors and pastoral staff in schools can have more effective attendance conversations. The article looks at anxiety-related absence, the importance of honest dialogue and how small changes in language and approach can make a significant difference.
Joining Paul in SecEd is Secondary Maths Teaching and Learning Adviser, Mel Chrisp, whose article on maths progression in the secondary classroom asks, “Do maths lessons really need to move faster to be effective?”
Mel considers research and practical classroom strategies, showing that slowing down can improve problem-solving and understanding with benefits for teachers too.
