This return of the ever-popular face to face event will provide the most up-to-date curriculum news and advice, as well as offering suggestions and strategies to lead and manage the issues and challenges that face English subject leaders.

We will have our usual mix of ‘spotlight sessions’ based on cutting edge practice and the usual winter giveaways.

Subject updates

Keynotes from:

  • Manjeet Mann, multi-award winning children's author, actress, playwright and screenwriter.
    Manjeet is a multi-award winning children's author, actress, playwright and screenwriter. Her debut YA novel “Run, Rebel” was shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal 2021 and won the CILIP Carnegie Shadowers Choice Award, The UKLA Award, Diverse Book Award and Sheffield Children's Book Award. It was also a Guardian best book of 2020. Her second novel “The Crossing” won The Costa Children's Book Award. Manjeet is also the founder of Run the World - a not for profit organisation that uses sport and theatre as a means to empower women and girls.
    Manjeet’s keynote will be “Owning your Creativity”
  • Toks Olusamokun, Race Equality Adviser, HFL Education. 
    Following on from the success of her session at our summer conference and popular demand, Tok’s will return to provide some about practical approaches for teaching difficult texts and some classroom strategies to support leaders and teachers. 
    Tok’s keynote will be “Practical approaches to teaching diverse texts in the classroom”
